dannyshell.com![]() In January, February, and March; when most people are hibernating, there is a group of people that weather the cold temperatures and elements to go bass fishing. One such person is my boss, Danny. Danny works harder than most people ever dream about working. He owns his own construction company (of nearly 40 years), has a wife, children, grandchildren, and dogs. He likes to hunt and fish, and loves the Lord. In 2014, Danny got diagnosed with germ-cell cancer. It was very fast growing and aggressive, and spread into his lungs and lymph nodes. He went through 30 hrs of chemotherapy every 3 weeks, and 6 hours once a week in between the 30 hr weeks for 4 months. In November, CT scans showed that the cancer was gone, and in early February 2015, a PET scan confirmed that the cancer was gone! Praise the Lord! This picture was taken in January 2015 from Lake Okeechobee, Florida at the first tournament of the year for the 2015 Rayovac FLW Series, Southeast Division bass fishing tournament. Danny didn't win the tournament. He didn't even make the cut to fish on Saturday. However, Danny won because he got to get back to doing what he loves. Something that cancer took away from him in 2014. So to some, fishing is a hobby. To others, it's a career. To Danny, it's a second chance on life.
